From 5th April Shared Parental Leave is introduced. Statutory Adoption Leave and Pay will be amended so that it mirrors Statutory Maternity Leave and Pay. Parental Leave is to be extended so that it can be taken any time up to the child’s 18th birthday and finally the lower rate for SMP/SAP and the rate for Ordinary Paternity Pay will increase from £138.18 to £139.58.
From 6 April the weekly rate for SSP will increase from £87.55 to £88.45. The statutory maximum for a week’s pay will increase from £464 to £475. The maximum compensatory award will increase from £76,574 to £78,335 (or the employee’s
annual salary if this is lower).
